Gathering
By the time Ansuz could see the finish, the lead owl was already waiting there.
"How fast you are!" Ansuz marveled.
The night owl said, "Yoooo! are even faster. But I know this forest well. I've lived here with my family all of my life. And I love to fly, tooooo!"
Ansuz asked the winning owl her name, as the rest of the night owls gently alit beside them.
"I am Vashtoooo, and I am pleased to meet you. I was told you are the fastest forest faerie of them all. I see now it is true. Thank you for the race."
"Thank you!" said Ansuz.
With that, Vashtoooo leapt into the cold night. The other night owls followed. |
