Binary Dance
For over a week, Ansuz awaited the return of the forest faeries.
At last, on a night without a moon, two stars shot down from the sky and danced in the meadow. Ansuz flew to them.
"Hello," Ansuz said timidly.
The two forest faeries did not respond immediately. Instead, they finished their dance, swirling gracefully around one another as binary stars. Ansuz admired the mid-air ballet.
When they were done, they glided over to Ansuz.
"Hello," said one. "You must be Ansuz. We heard there was a new starlight in the area. We are pleased to meet you. I am Gara, and this is Fansoothe."
"I am pleased to meet you, too!" replied Ansuz. "I've been in this forest for over a week, and you two are the first forest faeries to appear." |
